The blackened oxide layers can be removed but with great delicacy using steel wool, for this purpose Weller has created the brand new WDC2 dry metal ball system ideal for WDH Series Supports or the stainless steel brush (the latter to be used exclusively with cold!), which avoids thermal collapse of the tips (excessive water in the sponges), carbon and mineral deposits (excessive evaporation), the stripping of the wettable surface and the consequent instantaneous oxidation and poor thermal conduction to the joint.
The WDC2 , thanks to its small size, fits perfectly to WDH Weller supports, finding a perfect accommodation near the operator. The steel wool scrapes oxidation and flux residues, leaving the tip covered with a thin layer of alloy that protects against oxidation.
