Troubleshooting PoE LANs

MicroScanner PoE allows you to test PoE-based communication cables quickly, easily and clearly. The tester reports the maximum power class that the switch can provide based on the 802.3af, 802.3at, and 802.3bt specifications and displays the 802.3 (0-8) PoE class or voltage from passive PoE sources. This allows technicians to verify the exact problems that might affect a PoE-based installation. MicroScanner PoE also provides information on available services up to 10G Ethernet, ensuring that the network is able to meet usage needs.

IT technicians and networking managers have more and more problems to deal with when it comes to connectivity. They must rule out a variety of cable and service problems before determining the cause of a problem. Where is the broken cable? Are all cables terminated correctly? Is there a switch on the other end of the cable? Is PoE power really available? MicroScanner PoE gives technicians the capabilities to verify today's most common voice, data and video services.

Reduction of test time and user errors

Normally older cable verification testers would force users to switch between modes (up to four) to view all test results. This not only slowed down the testing process, but also caused the possibility of user error. MicroScanner PoE instead displays all major test results - cable map, pair length, distance to error, cable ID and remote devices in one screen.

Locate cables in seconds

MicroScanner PoE features a digital and analog IntelliTone ™ tone generator to locate virtually any pair of cables or wires, regardless of the work environment. The digital mode is used to locate high quality data cables (Cat 5e / 6 / 6A) in bundles or in switches, patch panels or wall outlets. Alternatively, the analog mode can be used on voice level cabling (Cat 3 and below).
